Pickled Papaya (Jeruk Betik) made with red chillies, salt, vinegar and sugar. Simple appetizer which taste both sweet and sour, a delightful combination.
Recipe for Pickled Papaya
Recipe for Pickled Papaya (Jeruk Betik):
- 300g. young raw papaya
- 2 red chillies
- 1 tsp salt
- 140 ml. vinegar
- 2 tbsp sugar
Method:
- Slice papaya thinly.
- Cut chillies lengthwise.
- Season papaya and chillies with salt for about half an hour.
- Rinse papaya and chillies. Wipe dry.
- Sun for half an hour.
- Mix vinegar and sugar until sugar dissolves. Taste.
- Add papaya and chillies.
- Stand for about half a day before serving.
